How to Get Your Attorney Website Seen by People who actually need your Services:

Blogging 101

Each blog post can help a person who needs you the more blog posts you publish the more people who can find you.

Where are folks searching? We don’t get to decide.  You might be in a mood to write about people with “hang nails” but if they’re not searching for hang nails, then your blog is not getting read.  They need you but what how do you find them?

You can find out whose searching by going to Google Keywords Tool.  This tool is about payed adwords, but it still gives you a idea of the Competition for the first page and how many are searching.

If you have a Wordpress blog and aren’t planning to do any other marketing, your blog can do very well attracting new business if you follow some rules.

Findlaw, Attorney Marketing, Attorney websites, Doctor websites, Doctor Blogs, Attorney Blogs, they’re all catching on to blogging, but are they doing it right?

  • Do you have a blog?
  • Do you publish often?
  • Does your blog get you new clients?
  • Does your blog look great?
  • Does your blog have compelling headlines?
  • Does your blog intrigue the reader?
  • Does your blog have a call to action?
  • Does your blog have pictures and text?
  • Does your blog have a telephone number where they can reach you in more than one place?
  • Does your blog have an email sign up form?
  • Is your blog branded to look like your website?
  • Does you blog have video?
  • Do you know what “they” are searching for
  • Are you answering their questions?
  • Does your blog speak to people who need help or other professionals in your field who will never hire you?

The more often you blog the more clients you will get from your blog or website.

Why some blogs are a vanity project

Pontificating? Expounding? Preaching to the Choir? Tooting your own horn?

Just having a blog isn’t enough.  Your blog is most likely going to be the first introduction to your firm or company.

  • Does your blog represent you?
  • Do you address what they are looking for?

Or are you speaking to other attorneys or professionals in your field? Or are you blowing your own horn about whatever you think is interesting.  Your blog’s #1 criteria is to help people and that will bring in business for you.

NUTS AND BOLTS:  What to do Next:

Put your Web Presence to work with WordPress:

There are on-page ways to get search results attracting new clients, and off-page ways.  WordPress helps you with on-page results.

With Wordpress you can make sure the name of your URL is optimized: MyBlog.Org/TheSubjectWeAreSearchingFor

With Wordpress you can make sure the headline is optimized: What are the keywords in the headline in this post?  Where do we want this post to show up?  ”Attorney blogging” and “Attorney marketing”!

With Wordpress you can put keywords in your tags too – its easy!  These are all called on-page search engine optimization.  There is also off-page search engine optimization. (SEO)

And Wordpress is known by Google as the easiest for their “spiders’ to crawl!  It gets the best results.

Attorneys, get your website or blog listed for attracting new business

Why would Google consider your site important?  Does your site give new great information? Has your site been there a long time?  Does it constantly update with the latest in your feild? Is it listed at other relevant sites? Do other sites link to your site as a reference? Do you have video?

Are you in Google “Places” yet? Yahoo Business Listings? Yellowpages.com? Dmoz.org? Yellowpages.com? This may seem completely irrelevant, but it is VERY IMPORTANT. If your site isn’t listed in as many relevant places as you can get your “mits” on, your website suffers with less visibility and Google doesn’t take your business seriously.

Some places you’ll list are a hassle signing up, you’re caught in mazes of Captcha and new email addresses, but really, it is worth it for “off-page SEO” to drive your site higher in the rankings in all related searches.
