What is an RSS Feed Anyway? Why do I need it?
RSS feed is normally represented by the orange icon:
Folks who use RSS Feeds click on that feed symbol, which means that every time a blog post is published from that feed, it will automatically go into their Google Reader, Cell Phone, Email, anywhere they like! They choose where it will go.
I was very surprised at how many people were stopping me on the street about our online video presentation which was live. People I knew weren’t on my email list were stopping me to tell me they’d be there.
So I checked my Feed in Feedburner, and I had picked up 45 new “listeners” on my Feed since the last time I had checked.
Publish Your Feed to hungry listeners
Your Feed is published right away when you click Publish so you need to be sure your article is truly ready!
My husband uses Google Reader, on the upper left when you go into your Gmail, to create his own newspaper about what he’s interested in reading – we love the latest news on Internet Marketing, Online video etc…!
Make your own Newspaper
Every morning he gets his Peets Coffee and he says: “it’s like having a fire hose of up to the moment information…” coming through his reader. In Google reader you can have it set up to see full blog posts in your own reader page or just excerpts.
So folks will click your RSS feed and listen to your blog that way! And you might enjoy doing the same to keep track of up to date info about biking or anything else you love!
Get Started with your RSS Feed
If you use Google Chrome as a Browser (which I love) you need to add an extension to get RSS feeds. Its on click at: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/nlbjncdgjeocebhnmkbbbdekmmmcbfjd and install the extension to see Feeds, otherwise it looks like a bunch of crazy code.
If you liked this blog post, or want to know more about search results, online visibility, video production tips or social media, pop in your email and get into the loop! Or… you know what I’m going to say? Click the RSS Feed! (415) 690-7112
